I pushed 2 boxes of these specifically for a bison hunt I was going on. Load development was incredibly simple and I found my load within the fist two 3shot groups (not bad for open sights at 75y). On the day of hunt we located a bull and stalked him for over 2 miles. I put a shot on him while he was running at 150y, the bullet struck high shoulder and absolutely anchored him. I put 2 more into his vitals as I walked up and was able to recover them. Everyone at camp remarked about how effective these bullets were and how they had never seen a heart get "tenderized" without having an actual hole in it. These preformed better than I could have ever imagined.
Be patient when back ordering. These are worth the wait if loading a 45-70 for your Marlin 1895. Very accurate at 2000 to 2200 FPS.
I purchased the .458 325gr Lever Gun Safari Solid for my Marlin 1895GBL. I was looking for a lock-down load for cow Cape buffalo hunt in South Africa scheduled for late May of 2021.
I was able to find a load that shoots very well from my gun. With a bit of practice off sticks before heading to Africa, I was ready to go.
Wow. - to say I'm impressed is an understatement. I managed to kill a mature cow buffalo (1300 pounds worth!) with a frontal shot at 45 yards. She knew we were there, and she wasn't happy. She traveled less than 30 yards and was dead in a matter of seconds. I also harvested a nice zebra stallion on this trip with the same load.
